Giveaways 101

Hi there! If you're new to the concept of blog giveaways, this will be your one stop shop for all pertinent information! Hope this helps, and if not, feel free to drop and email to theivytwines(at)hotmail.com and we'll get back with an answer!


The concept is not a new one, but it most definitely a trend in social networking. With all the mediums available to businesses, (ie Twitter, Facebook, Blogger) a giveaway is just one more way to spread marketing through the most effective way possible: word of mouth. For some wonderful giveaway sites I encourage you to visit my friends at A Giveaway Everyday and The Bragging Mommy and Desi over at WeeShare.


Here's the 411 on entering our giveaways here at The Ivy Twines.


First off, we're working to feature very hardworking women and men who love what they do, have a passion for their work, and take great care to make sure there is complete customer satisfaction. So please be respectful and appreciative of their time!


As a courtesy to the gals here at Ivy Twines, please leave your email or have it visible in your profile, otherwise there will be no way to let you know you've won!


Next, the MANDATORY ENTRY. This will be clearly stated on each giveaway post. It will usually say something like, "visit "the store" and leave a comment here with your favorite item!" You must do this before you submit additional entries, or your entries will be not be counted. All we want you to do is check out the store, and pick out what you like! Easy peasy!


Onto the ADDITIONAL ENTRIES. They will be clearly listed, along with the number of separate comments you will be able to make to earn more entries in the fabulous giveaway! They will look something like this: (This is just an example!)

1. Favorite an item at the shop
2. Become a public google friend at The Ivy Twines
3. Follow us on twitter @theivytwines
4. Tweet it!
5. Become a facebook fan of the shop
6. Blog about it including links to the store and the giveaway page (5 extra entries)
7. Make a purchase from the store (10 extra entries)

Now, trust me, I'm no expert on social media. In fact, I only have a twitter account because I wanted to enter some giveaways here. But networking is key to be successful on the internet! I have found some spectacular sites by clicking through links than I could have ever imagined. So, I know it works! And please, be honest. I know there will be some very swoon-worthy prizes, but cheating never gets you anywhere :)
